wedding inspirations

i have been browsing foreign (read;mat salled) wedding inspiration blogs.
i love the fact that their weddings are so intimate and personal.

intimate in the sense that only CLOSE family and friends are invited.
personal - i love the fact that each couple put their own personal touches to the deco. for example for one couple, the guy's nickname is p-nut. so the bride went and got peanuts and gave the guests some as favours. also check out this creative picture of the wedding rings.

i really want to to put OUR personal touches to the wedding. as i first mentioned before, i really want to avoid a dias that looks like anyone else's but i am not sure on how to actually execute that. a neighbour of mine had her custom made by a carpenter! let's see in a few week's time how that turned out.

anyways check out these blogs for inspirations

i thee wed #1

~pic from vera wang

so i've put down the deposit for the wedding outfits and i hereby announce that Man Kajang (MK) is our official tailor.

like i mentioned last time, initially we were going to have my engagement make up artist (who also does wedding dresses/outfits) as our tailor. when i finally called him to get an appointment to discuss ideas, he was busy until after Raya Haji. Then mummy suggested that I check out MK's website and just happened that on that same day he has an empty slot so we decided to survey his collections and see him. MK did all K sister's wedding outfits and they were beautiful! as an established tailor within the wedding industry i have no qualms about the end product if we were to choose him . in addition the fact that he has worked with K's sister and his family, he knows our expectations on his quality of work. plus he is actually really close with K's sister (like they text each other every now and then),so we have a personal connection with him which makes thing easier too! btw i just lovee his boutique...check out the pics in his website!

so at our first meeting, i brought the materials for akad (it was part of our engagement hantarans). so he quickly threw in ideas about our outfits and gave us a quote on everything. I didn't know he also does pelamin. the prices were steep but i think we expected it to be much MUCH higher. plus all his prices are all inclusive of veil, hand bouquets, accessories and shoes. MK will also go with you to pick out the materials and access so you don't need to worry about finding matching items to go with everything else. since we have materials for the akad and bertandang, we only need to pay for his labour and accessories. as for the reception we'll have to start from scratch and he gave us the price for a first rental (gulp). it is quite pricey considering the fact that you don't even get to keep the dress in the end but no doubt you'll look stunning in it! so after our first meeting, we decided to just go ahead with him.

so now we're just waiting for our songket to be ready then we'll immediately see him again to buy other materials. in the meantime he asked me to browse martha stewart for dress ideas. i started my scrap book in July so will start printing more pics (have set up my printer, scanner in my room over the weekend). eeekk i'm so excited! with less than 7 months to go i've got to start putting things together.

another advantage of using MK is his connections. for make up, he has the top 10 make up artists on speed dial. so if you have nurul, sue cantik, amy janz in mind, all you have to do is state so and he'll call them in front of you and secure the booking on the spot! initially i was gonna use the same make up artist as my E-day but decided to have SC for the reception. SC hasn't even open up booking for July yet (only up to March 2010) but as MK called himself, it's already in their diary! so yeay :)

current status;

* dates and locations have been confirmed
- akad 020710 ; home [need to decided whether to do it after asar or maghrib]
- reception 030710 ; DSE
- bertandang 100710 ; bangi

* hall booked and deposit paid [need to go to food tasting at some point]

* make up for reception - SC for reception
[need to reconfirm that we're still ok with FLP (E-day make up artist) to do my make up for akad and tandang, i'm so afraid that he's going to merajuk with me since i'm not using him any longer for the outfits and reception make up. sighh better call him soon and double check in case he does merajuk and i will need to find alternatives!]

* most of our hantarans are sorted apart from the rings. we're hoping that someone goes to the UK/US as they're much cheaper there. menyesal tak beli haritu in London. MK will be doing the deco for us. as his price are top range; we're limiting the trays to 5-7 ONLY.

still LOADS to sort out!!

I am not ashamed to admit that I love high school musical and at the risk of sounding like a cradle snatcher, I think Zac Efron is swoon worthy! Sometime last year I actually watched the musical production of HSM1 at Birmingham Hippodrome and was fully entertained. My sister also loves it to bits! I remember watching her trying to follow the dance steps of the finale song and it was soo cute! So semangat dia nari2. I felt really bad watching the theatre and almost cried at the thought of how much she would enjoy it. So when I heard that the is a high school musical summer celebration of which the casts would sing songs from all 3 movies I thought that I MUST take my darling lil sister to watch it.

After booking the tickets online, we headed yesterday afternoon to catch the matinee. Unfortunately it was also the last day of PC Fair and hence the parking at KLCC was choc-a-block and not moving. I thought quick as I didn't want to be late and my best bet was to park at PNB Darby and walk. However poor lil milah coz she had to walk through the KLCC park. I even asked her to walk faster and told her that Troy was waiting for her and at which point she would happily quicken her steps. We made it with a few minutes to spare…but poor mils coz she was literally out of breath!

Once the show started she was really enjoying herself. It felt good to make her happy J she was dancing in her seat and even clapping to the songs. I was trying to video her but it was too dark! In terms of the performance itself, Troy Bolton looked a lot like Zac Efron (from the back seats where we were). But it was nothing compared to the theatre production although I think it was perfect for milah coz I think she might get a bit bored with all the lines. We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

After the show we had to walk all the way back but at a slower pace. Again Mils was out of breath, comel sgt dia berlakon over2 tercungap2..so when we got to Darby I asked her whether she wanted to have a drink first and she did. So when we got to the café she took off her shoes and I discovered a fresh blister on the toe!! Kesian gila ok…I felt soo bad!!! Luckily I managed to get some band aids to cover it so she could walk to the car. Later when I got home I realized that both her toes had blister!! Poor girl! Check out her toes below…

But I think it was all worth it kan Milah? Dpt tgk Troy and Gabriella..
